united nations summit delegate
August 2023 – Present
This September, I served as one of the youngest U.S. delegates to the 4th UN Sustainable Development Goals Summit, held at the United Nations Headquarters and General Assembly. I represented over 30,000,000 people living in the United States Mid-Atlantic Region and attended plenaries by world leaders such as the Secretary-General and President of Costa Rica. I also advised major international agreements such as the High Seas Treaty and attended sessions such as “Towards a Rights-Centered Economy,” held at the ECOSOC Chamber.
I am heavily involved with UNA-USA (the U.S. branch of the United Nations) and YOUNGO, the youth constituency of the United Nations. For example, I serve on the UNA-USA Human Rights Working Group, advising policy on human rights issues such as gender-based violence, the use of cluster munitions in the Russia-Ukraine War, and racial equity in artificial intelligence systems. I also draft official youth advisory statements, such as a proposal to UN member states on eliminating gendered violence through government-sponsored programs.
My work with the United Nations has indelibly shaped my interest in international relations and global affairs. I love the immense capacity for good that supranational governing bodies such as the UN wield. I also feel that my multiethnic background equips me well to lead diplomacy because of my lifelong experience with bridging cultures. In the future, I aspire to continue trailblazing global justice as a federal politician specializing in international relations, or as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
